The Importance of Seasons
“ For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; a time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace.” Ecclesiastes 3.3-8, English Standard Version
Life constantly is changing in seasons. While some seasons of life drag out others are quick, and while you may never know exactly how long they’ll last you can be certain they will change. I’m not certain what season of life you’re in, but you should know. Often enough, people go through life not aware of what God is doing in their life, but He wants us to know. There should no mystery even in the silent times, God is always refining you, and it always looks different. As the seasons of weather change, so do our lives. Like Summer our life can look dry, like Fall we can enter new beginnings, as Winter we can be cold and barren and as Spring, we can be blooming. Through every season there is purpose. During you most likely will not understand, but God is setting you up for success even when it doesn’t look like it.
How do you gain understanding on what season you’re in? It can be hard to gauge at times and other times very clear. Ask. Again God wants you to know, He wants you to be aware.
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” Matthew 7.7, ESV.
Why is it important to know what season of life you are in? Priorities. When you don’t know where God wants you and what you should be doing during any particular time in life, you get out of balance. You can be working in things you should have left two seasons ago, but instead you continued. It’s like when TV shows go on for that extra 8th season when you know they should’ve ended in the 7th when they were at their peak. And God, He always want you at your peak. He wants new, fresh stories to tell for you.
I love that through every season of life, the core of them each is always Jesus, getting closer in relationship to Him. All times vary and look different but Jesus is the center. In dark times we lean to Him, our rock, and it’s during those times our trust and love deepens for Him. In the times that abound, it’s even more reason to shout His name in praises and thanks. Sweet sweet Jesus is there for us no matter what our lives look like.
Darling, what season are you in? Write it out. What are your top 3 priorities at this time in your life? Where is God moving you toward? Think about these things, pray about them and then do them. God is with you and He is guiding you through it all!
