Magnifying a Magnificent God
God is almighty, all-loving, all-powerful, and creator of everything. He provides strength for the weak, heals the brokenhearted, and gives peace to the weary. He is the creator and ruler of the universe, our heavenly father. He is majestic and all-knowing, so great that we are unable to fathom how great His presence truly is.
In the bible we come across various verses that say we must “magnify” the Lord, but what does that mean? God is greater than anything we could ever comprehend. He is not a small God, but a great God. How are we to magnify Him when He is already bigger than ourselves? You see, God is not boastful, prideful, or vain. So why are we asked to magnify Him, if He is not a small God who needs to be made bigger, or a God who is arrogant.
God is asking us to magnify Him to make Him known to others who do not know Him. God wants us to tell others about who He is so that He may fill their needs in the same way He has met ours. Being our heavenly father, He wants to be there for His children but He needs us, who know Him, to show and share what He has done for us so that others may believe in Him.
When we magnify Him, we are seeing God as He truly is - magnificent and all-powerful. We are praising and worshipping Him for what He has done for our lives and in us. You see, when we magnify God, we are only showing the world who He truly is and what He can do. This is why the Lord is asking us to magnify Him, so that others can seek Him through our testimonies.
So now, how do we magnify a God who is perfect and all-knowing? A God who is all-powerful and wonderful? I mean, God is so magnificent that it feels like anything we do or say would never suffice to the wonders He has done. He has given us endless grace and endless love. How do we magnify a magnificent God?
Simple.
We put Him first and above all things! In everything we do, we must lift Him high. We magnify our Lord by putting Him first in everything and by telling others how great He is. The way we magnify God is by always praising Him-- through the good, the bad, the joy, the sorrow, the celebration, and the mourning. He is first always. We must fully acknowledge the work of our Lord in our lives and how everything He is doing is for a greater purpose, for His greater purpose. When we recognize this, we acknowledge this to the world; when we acknowledge this to the world, we are magnifying a magnificent God to those who don’t know Him so they may search Him. When they know Him, He can meet their requests just as He has with us. We must have high thoughts of Him, praise Him, and share what our Lord has done for us to the world, so they also have bigger thoughts of Him and know of His greatness.
What a magnificent God we serve! He has been so gracious with all of us, and all He asks is for us to share His greatness to the world so He can sustain and love them in the same way He has with us. He has shown us grace and love, and wants to use us to reach more hearts. Why would we not share His goodness and His grace to the rest of the world? We all need Him and He is the only one who can meet the needs of our human hearts. Lets continue to praise Him and testify of his grace! Let’s magnify our magnificent God to the world!
