Human Emotion
There is no escaping what we feel.
Day after day, it’s different. Moment after moment, it changes. The circumstances determine the way we emote. Anger, wrath, anxiety, sadness, and best scenario, joy. We can feel so many things all at once or we can feel one thing in so many ways. Our emotions can be more than we can handle. Some of us might feel a little more than others. Yet, there is no exact measure of the “right” amount of emotions we feel.
We are given advice about ways in which we can control our emotions, but what works for some may not work for others.
I have gone through my share of feelings, and I am one of those who feels “too much” from time to time. My fear, anger, pain and sadness sometimes get the worst of me. It’s hard to control something that comes so deep within you, something you rarely see. I have been in that situation countless times. I’ve attempted different things to help, and each of these things work to an extent, but none of them have given me the answer that I need. In my pain, in my anxiety, in my sadness, in my anger and confusion, feelings that consume me, I have found one thing to be the most helpful: prayer.
It is a feeling of freedom and peace that takes over when you close your eyes and speak to our Heavenly Father. To have the ability to feel and let go, as words speak from your heart and soul, is so liberating and reassuring. To take everything that has built inside of you and hand it over to God, is an amazing relief.
There are no answers, there sometimes are no solutions, and it is no magic trick. But, it gives you hope, it gives you peace, it gives you strength, and He brings comfort to your heart. I have learned in life, that no matter how you are feeling, there are some things you cannot change. You are there in that moment, feeling more than you can perceive, losing sense of reality at times. Feelings are powerful. Emotions are overwhelming, and there are moments when no matter what you do, you cant control those emotions.
My advice to you-
When you are heartbroken, pray.
When you are lost, pray.
When you are in pain, pray.
When you are angry, pray.
When you are sad, pray
When you are anxious, pray
When you are happy, pray.
When you are feeling, pray.
No one wants to listen more than God does. No one wants to help you more than God. And in that moment nothing may change, but God is working. You will be able to feel what He is doing in your heart. Emotions are strong, but God is stronger. When you are feeling too much, speak to Him and let His peace reassure your heart. Let God be the comfort you need.
