Three Questions to Finding Impact

Here at She Leads Daily we’ve been talking about impact. Impact is just a two syllable word, but it holds plenty of weight. To impact is the action of changing something and as a noun, it is the force of the impression. It is the aftermath of that action.

Where am I?

Where am I spending most of my time? Am I a student, am I serving, am I working? God places us in different places for a reason and for different seasons of our lives. Sometimes, the best way to look for our impact is to look around us and see who else is here and what needs to be done. Find where you are and see where you are already actively engaged.

Who do I interact with? Who do I have relationships with or could have a bond with?

This question is closely tied with where you are. Your community exists around where you live, work and play, but also is filled with people you may not know. Impact can be found in relationships and how you can grow alongside someone as a friend or mentor. Look around you - who do you have relationships with that could impact each other, or the world around you? Who do you see that you can help guide and mentor so that you would have an impact on their life?

What do I like to do?

What hobbies or activities interest you? Those can be gifts that can be used to make an impression on someone. Maybe you like to cook - you could try cooking for a family in need. Maybe your favorite thing is bicycling - you can invite someone on your weekend bike rides. What you like to do is an invitation for others to join in. It is your unique gifts, talents and interests that can be used in a number of ways.

The questions listed above are simple, but the implications can run much deeper. Our impact looks different because each of us is placed and gifted in different ways. Allow these three questions to help guide you in determining how to find your impact. We all are capable and equipped to impact others.
