What Makes You, You
There are so many things that make you who you are. The past and present, inward and outward challenges and victories, our likes and dislikes, our passions and dreams, our strengths and our weaknesses, endless circumstances and choices — the list goes on and on. The beauty of it is that absolutely all of these things are connected and create who God made you to be.
What are the things that make you different and one-of-a-kind? What tugs at your heart? What makes you feel whole?
From the moment you were born, you were raised with specific beliefs and ideals, cultural background and unique kindred love. Your life journey has taken you through many distinct paths, and each of them leaves a lesson embedded in your being. You have learned from all these life events and they have shaped you to be who you are. The way you think, the way you react or behave and your decisions. All of this makes you one in a million. It shapes the things you love into your own; your passions are shaped by you. No one sees what you see, as your imagination and your thoughts mold what you do.
Understanding things through your own perspective is what differentiates you from everyone else.
Your personal being and the life learned traits you possess will make everything you do and all your passions different from the rest of the world. Trademarked by you and your personal journey, no one else does it the way you do.
Who you are now is a culmination of the decisions you've made through time, taking things from each circumstance; what you've grown up with, what you were taught, who you have encountered, what you have been through, where you have been. You are the outcome of the past, and your present being is what you’ve taken from all your experiences, actions and decisions.
All things connect. In the same way, they connect you to God and to your calling.
Your purpose brings together all the things you love that inspire you and uses them to help or support others. Your life was shaped by God. What makes you, you, are all the things God has used to mold you, to bring you to the things that set our soul on fire
You have always had a specific calling in your heart. Certain things you are passionate about, inspired by the life that made you. When you are able to do these things, it brings you joy and wholesomeness. They are the things you were meant to do. You define yourself through them; whether you are a designer, a writer, a doctor, a mother, a counselor, an artist, a teacher…whatever it may be. There’s something you enjoy doing wholeheartedly, that when you do it, you do it with every inch of your heart and soul. Pouring absolutely everything that you have into it. You are passionate about it and everything you do is in service to that passion that pulls at your heart.
These are the things that make you unique, one-of-a-kind, and different from the rest of the world. There are others who do what you do, but no one does them like you! The experiences you've lived through, the person you are, they lead you to see and do things differently. No one gives what you give or cares the way you do. The things you love to do are a part of you, but who you are makes those things unique in your hands. Your passions become unique, they are yours and they make you who you are.
What makes you, you is a connection of everything you were, everything you are and everything you are meant to be. The circumstances God walked you through shape your calling, allowing you to see clearly what it is you are here to do.
You are your passions, you are your purpose, you are your experiences. All these things, God has used to make you. To use you. To make you what you are - yesterday, today and tomorrow.
So tell me, what makes you, you?
